Environmental Charter of the Ibis Budget Hotel Saint Malo Centre
In a responsible approach and mindful of preserving our planet, the Ibis Budget Hotel Saint Malo Centre is committed to implementing a series of concrete actions to reduce its ecological footprint and promote sustainable tourism.
This charter outlines the commitments we make at all levels of our activity, in compliance with environmental standards.
For us, for you, and for future generations, with the active participation of our staff and our clients, we are doing everything possible to minimize the impact of our activities on the environment.
Thus:
WE SAVE WATER AND ENERGY:
Installation of energy-efficient equipment (LED bulbs, programmable thermostats) to reduce energy consumption.
Turning off lights at night: The exterior and non-essential lights at the reception are turned off at night to reduce energy consumption.
Optimization of lighting and air conditioning management: We have implemented an automatic lighting system and motion detectors to reduce the use of lighting in common areas.
The temperature in the rooms is set to not exceed a difference of plus or minus 2°C from the ideal temperature, which helps save energy.
Change of sheets and towels on request: We encourage our guests to participate in water conservation by offering them the option not to change sheets and towels every day, except on request.
Energy savings through renovation: Our rooms have been renovated with devices that automatically turn off the lights when the guest is not in their room.
Water conservation: All faucets are equipped with aerators to limit water flow, and we have replaced bathtubs with showers.
Dual flush toilets: The rooms are equipped with dual flush toilets to optimize water consumption.
WE REDUCE AND SORT WASTE
Composting: All food waste generated during meals is sorted and composted to limit our ecological impact.
Reduction of food waste: Implementation of practices aimed at minimizing food losses (Poster on portion reduction and composting). We ensure to offer only the necessary quantities and encourage our customers to limit food waste by serving portions that meet their needs.
The collection and processing of compost are done in collaboration with a local company for waste recovery.
Reuse of paper: Papers used as drafts or for internal printing are collected and reused for notes or non-essential printing.
Billing on demand: We only print invoices when the customer requests them, thus reducing paper consumption.
Reduction of single-use packaging: We have replaced plastic packaging with reusable or compostable alternatives for all our catering products, and additionally, the arrangement of breakfast foods is in bulk.
We have removed plastic from the common areas and the rooms.
Toiletries without single-use packaging: We have eliminated individual toiletries in single-use plastic packaging and now use refillable dispensers in the bathrooms.
Removal of trash bags: In an effort to reduce plastic waste, trash bags are removed from the rooms, except for non-recyclable waste.
A free water fountain is available to customers in the lobby to limit the use of single-use plastic bottles.
To reduce waste, the leftovers from breakfast are resold at a low price on an anti-waste app (Too Good To Go).
WE ARE ATTENTIVE TO THE WELL-BEING OF OUR CLIENTS
We strive to offer our customers sustainable food with products (such as coffee or chocolate but also free-range eggs).
Vegetarian and balanced menus: Offering alternatives, gluten-free, vegetarian, and vegan to our clients. Proposal for meals in jars, French.
Our establishment is completely non-smoking.
WE RAISE AWARENESS AND ENGAGE OUR CLIENTS AS WELL AS OUR TEAMS
Transparent communication: Displaying the hotel's environmental actions in the rooms and public spaces. Information on the ecological initiatives undertaken.
Client Responsibility: We invite each client to adopt environmentally friendly behaviors during their stay and to actively participate in our ecological initiatives.
Promotion of sustainable transportation: Encourage the use of public transport, walking, cycling, or electric cars for the travel of clients and staff.
Communication and information: We inform our clients about our ecological actions through posters throughout the establishment. They are invited to actively participate in our ecological initiatives (recycling, energy management, etc.).
Continuous staff awareness: Ongoing training for staff to raise awareness of environmental issues and actively involve them in the hotel's sustainable practices.
Collective responsibility: Every staff member has a role to play in the implementation and monitoring of the environmental charter. We encourage everyone's involvement in the hotel's ecological initiatives.
OUR SOCIAL AND LOCAL COMMITMENT
Support for local initiatives: Collaboration with local associations that work for the environment and biodiversity. Support for community projects aimed at protecting local ecosystems.
Regular evaluation: Conducting environmental audits every year to measure the impact of our actions and set new objectives.
Transparency: Publication of the results of our environmental efforts on our website and in our internal communications.
WE CERTIFY AND WE COMMIT
Obtaining eco-labels: Our hotel is committed to obtaining and maintaining recognized eco-certifications (Green Key).
Respect for environmental standards: Compliance with local and international regulations regarding the environment and sustainability.
In order to fulfill our commitment and engage in a process of continuous improvement, we are in the process of obtaining the Clef Verte certification.
Clef Verte distinguishes tourist accommodations committed to a voluntary, effective, and dynamic environmental approach. This label is awarded each year by an independent jury composed of environmental experts and tourism professionals. The Green Key certification is a demanding process that drives our hotel to engage in a continuous improvement approach.
